The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) is, among other responsibilities, mandated to ensure that all academic programmes offered by university institutions are accredited and meet the prescribed quality standards. Accordingly, any university institution intending to introduce a new curriculum or revise an existing curriculum is required to submit it to TCU for accreditation.

To facilitate the submission, evaluation and accreditation of new and revised curricula, the Commission has developed an online platform known as the Programme Management System (PMS).

The Commission has also developed a general framework to guide university institutions in curriculum development and review, as well as procedures governing programme accreditation. These documents provide guidance to university institutions on the requirements and processes to be followed when developing, reviewing and submitting curricula for accreditation.
