Sections 12(2)(a), (b) and (c) of the Universities Act, Cap. 346 R.E. 2023, read together with Regulation 31(2), (3) and (4), mandate the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) to coordinate admissions to university institutions and standardise the criteria for admission to higher education institutions, including admission to postgraduate programmes in Tanzania.

Applicants seeking admission to postgraduate programmes are required to apply directly to the higher education institutions of their choice. Information on the programmes offered and their specific entry requirements is available on the websites of the respective higher education institutions.

The Postgraduate Admission Procedure applies to all applicants seeking admission to postgraduate diploma, Master’s and PhD programmes offered by university institutions in Tanzania. It provides guidance on the requirements and procedures governing admission to postgraduate studies.
