TCU has harmonised its Quality Assurance (QA) Framework with regional and international standards to enhance academic quality, facilitate student mobility, and improve the global recognition of Tanzanian qualifications. Given Tanzania’s membership in both the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), TCU aligns its policies with these regional bodies while incorporating global best practices to ensure higher education competitiveness.

TCU aligns its QA framework with the East African Higher Education Quality Assurance Framework (EAQFHE) under the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA). This ensures that Tanzanian universities meet common accreditation and assessment standards across EAC member states, facilitating academic mobility and regional integration. Similarly, through the SADC Regional Qualifications Framework (SADC RQF), TCU ensures that Tanzanian qualifications are comparable within the SADC region, promoting cross-border academic collaboration and recognition of degrees.

As part of the African Union (AU) initiatives, TCU has adopted elements of the African Regional Qualifications Framework (ARQF) to standardise qualifications at the continental level. This integration allows Tanzanian graduates to have their degrees recognised beyond EAC and SADC, improving employability and higher education opportunities across Africa.

To ensure compatibility with international higher education systems, TCU benchmarks its QA framework against European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) and the Bologna Process. This alignment facilitates the adoption of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Competency-Based Learning, and Digital Quality Assurance Mechanisms.

By harmonising its Quality Assurance Framework with regional and global standards, TCU strengthens the credibility and competitiveness of Tanzanian higher education system, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet international academic and professional expectations.
