The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) actively engages in international collaborations and holds memberships/collaborate with various regional and continental higher education organisations. It is a member of the African Quality Assurance Network (AfriQAN), which focuses on improving quality assurance practices in African universities. In March 2024, TCU assumed the presidency of AfriQAN, reinforcing its leadership in quality assurance and higher education development across Africa. TCU also is a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and collaborates with SADC Technical Committee for Certification and Accreditation (SADC TCCA) in harmonising higher education standards in the region. TCU is also affiliated with the Association of African Universities (AAU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and East African Higher Education Quality Assurance Network (EAQAN) among others, promoting cooperation and enhancing quality assurance mechanisms in higher education.

TCU has established linkages with other regulatory and qualifications authorities both within and outside Africa, including partnerships with institutions in Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Lesotho, South Africa, Namibia, Norway, among others. These collaborations facilitate knowledge exchange, mutual recognition of qualifications, and alignment of academic standards to ensure quality and mobility in higher education.
