President Samia Launches Revised Education Policy to Shape Tanzania’s Future

On February 1, 2025, the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre (JKCC) in Dodoma was a scene of vibrancy and optimism as Hon. President Samia Suluhu Hassan officially launched the 2023 Edition of the 2014 Education and Training Policy. This landmark event underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening the education system, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of Tanzanian society and aligns with global standards.

Addressing an audience comprising policymakers, educators, and stakeholders, President Samia reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to transforming Tanzania’s education sector. She emphasised that the revised policy reflects strategic improvements aimed at fostering innovation, inclusivity, and competency-based learning.

“This policy is a roadmap to a more progressive and globally competitive education system. It ensures that Tanzanian students are equipped with the skills necessary for the ever-evolving job market,” President Samia declared, receiving enthusiastic applause.

Policy Enhancements and the Path Ahead

The revised education and training policy is designed to tackle contemporary challenges, such as curriculum relevance, digital learning integration, and skill-based education. It seeks to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and modern technological advancements, ensuring students are better prepared for higher education and employment opportunities.

Speaking at the event, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Adolf Mkenda emphasised the government’s determination to provide accessible, and quality education for all Tanzanians. “We are committed to investing in education infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development to shape a skilled and knowledgeable generation,” he noted.

Exhibitions Showcase Tanzania’s Educational Progress

The launch was accompanied by comprehensive exhibitions held at the JKCC grounds, where stakeholders presented the progress achieved in implementing the education policy, along with revised curricula designed to meet modern educational demands. The exhibitions, organised by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, included participation from various institutions, notably the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and other key educational bodies. Showcasing innovations such as digital classrooms, advancements in vocational training, and university-level curriculum reviews, the exhibitions provided a compelling insight into Tanzania’s ongoing educational transformation.
