TCU’s IMPACTFUL PRESENCE AT ZANZIBAR’s FIFTH HIGHER EDUCATION WEEK EXHIBITIONS - 2024

The Fifth Higher Education Week Exhibitions in Zanzibar, held from July 15 to 21, 2024, at Maisara Grounds in Unguja, saw significant participation from the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). This event, a notable fixture in the higher education sub-sector, attracted stakeholders from both within and outside the country, providing a platform for showcasing educational advancements, fostering collaborations, and discussing pressing issues in higher education. A total of 77 public and private institutions, including higher education institutions, participated in the exhibitions.

The exhibition’s opening ceremony was graced by the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Hon. Hemed Suleiman Abdalla, on July 17, 2024, while the Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training - Zanzibar, Hon. Ali Abdulgulam Hussein, officiated the closing ceremony on July 21, 2024.

TCU's involvement in the event was marked by a well-curated and branded exhibition booth, where a series of impactful presentations and interactive sessions were conducted. The commission aimed to highlight its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of university education in Tanzania and engage with stakeholders to strengthen collaborations.

Exhibition Booth: TCU's booth at the exhibition was a focal point, attracting a diverse audience including students, educators, government leaders, and the public. The booth featured detailed information about TCU's mandate, functions, and quality assurance issues in university education in Tanzania. Interactive displays and brochures provided visitors with comprehensive insights into the commission's work.

Presentations and Q&A Sessions: TCU conducted presentations addressing key topics such as the importance of quality assurance in university education and hosted question-and-answer sessions with prospective higher education applicants and secondary school students on matters relating to the admission procedures for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in higher education institutions for the academic year 2024/2025. These sessions were interactive and facilitated meaningful discussions among participants.

Stakeholder Engagement: TCU exhibitors took the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders. These interactions aimed to gather feedback, understand challenges faced by higher education institutions, and discuss potential solutions.
