TCU Equips Admission Officers from Higher Education Institutions with Practical Skills Ahead of the 2025/2026 Bachelor’s Degree Admission Cycle
With the 2025/2026 Bachelor’s Degree admission cycle fast approaching, the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has taken a proactive step to ensure a seamless and efficient process by hosting a two-day capacity building workshop for Admission Officers from higher education institutions across the country.
Held from May 29 to 30, 2025 in Morogoro, the workshop brought together 72 Admission Officers for an intensive training programme designed to sharpen their skills, align institutional practices, and enhance collaboration with TCU in handling student admissions.
The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Charles Kihampa, Executive Secretary of TCU, who emphasised the critical role Admission Officers play in maintaining transparency, consistency, and efficiency in higher education institutions admissions. He commended the participants for their commitment and encouraged them to embrace innovative approaches to manage the increasingly complex admissions landscape.
“This workshop is part of our broader strategy to ensure that every institution is well-prepared for the 2025/2026 admissions,” said Prof. Kihampa. “Admission Officers are at the heart of this process, and empowering them with the right tools and knowledge is key to achieving a smooth, fair, and timely admission cycle.”
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in dynamic sessions covering essential topics such as compliance with admission guidelines, data verification procedures, and quality assurance measures. Discussions were enriched with real-world case studies, interactive group work, and scenario-based simulations to ensure practical application of the knowledge shared.
In a spirit of collaboration and mutual learning, the workshop also provided a platform for Admission Officers to share experiences, challenges, and success stories from previous admission cycles. This exchange of ideas fostered a renewed sense of unity and purpose among participants, who left the event better prepared to handle the forthcoming admission season.
One participant noted, “The sessions were not only informative but also empowering. We are leaving Morogoro with enhanced confidence and a deeper understanding of our role in supporting students and upholding the integrity of the admissions process.”
As the higher education sub-sector gears up for another busy admission period, TCU’s commitment to capacity building highlights its dedication to ensuring that no student is left behind due to inefficiencies or system gaps. The Commission continues to champion excellence, innovation, and partnership in higher education, paving the way for a more responsive and student-centered admission process.
With energised and better-equipped Admission Officers now returning to their respective institutions, the stage is set for a well-coordinated and successful 2025/2026 Bachelor’s Degree admission cycle across Tanzania.
