International Women's Day is celebrated globally on March 8th each year. It is a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight for gender equality and the need to address issues such as discrimination, violence against women, unequal access to education and healthcare, and barriers to economic and political participation.
Additionally, International Women's Day is a time to honour the achievements of women in various fields, including science, politics, business, and academia. It is an opportunity to highlight the contributions women make to society and to raise awareness about the challenges they continue to face. Nevertheless, it serves as a call to action for gender equality and a celebration of the progress made towards a more inclusive and equitable world for all genders.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.
