TCU’s DIGITAL INNOVATIONS WIN PUBLIC PRAISE AT NATIONAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND INNOVATION WEEK EXHIBITION IN TANGA

Visitors to the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) pavilion at the 2026 National Education, Skills and Innovation Week Exhibition commended the Commission for enhancing accessibility, efficiency and convenience in service delivery through digital innovations that save time, reduce costs and bring essential services closer to the public.

The commendations were made during the exhibition, held from 15thto 24thAugust 2026 at Usagara Secondary School Grounds in Tanga, where TCU joined other public and private institutions in showcasing innovations, institutional achievements and advancements in service delivery. Held under the theme “Education, Skills and Innovation: A Pathway to Achieving the National Development Vision 2050”, the exhibition provided a platform for members of the public to interact directly with exhibitors, access essential information and services, and share their experiences and expectations. The theme underscored the importance of education, practical skills and innovation in driving Tanzania's socio-economic transformation and realising the aspirations of the National Development Vision 2050.

For prospective university students, parents, graduates and other stakeholders, visiting the TCU pavilion offered an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Commission's mandate, functions and services. Visitors received practical guidance on university admissions, recognition of foreign academic qualifications, quality assurance and other regulatory matters relating to university education. A major attraction at the pavilion was the demonstration of the Commission's digital platforms, including the No Objection Certificate System (NOCS), Foreign Awards Assessment System (FAAS), Programme Management System (PMS) and Universities Information Management System (UIMS). These innovations attracted considerable interest for their role in simplifying administrative procedures, improving transparency and enabling stakeholders to access services more conveniently.

Visitors expressed appreciation for the Commission's continued efforts to modernise its services, particularly through electronic platforms that enable users to access information and submit applications without necessarily travelling to TCU offices. They acknowledged that these improvements had helped reduce administrative inconveniences, minimise costs and improve efficiency in accessing TCU’s services. Graduates seeking recognition of qualifications obtained from foreign universities particularly appreciated the convenience of accessing the Commission's electronic services, while prospective students and parents welcomed the guidance provided on university admission requirements and procedures.

Other stakeholders commended the Commission for strengthening transparency and accessibility through digital transformation. They also encouraged TCU to intensify public awareness initiatives to ensure that more citizens, particularly those in areas with limited access to information, understand and benefit from its services. The feedback demonstrated growing public appreciation of the Commission's commitment to improving customer experience, strengthening stakeholder engagement and promoting confidence in its regulatory services.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on 24thAugust 2026, the Guest of Honour, the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, emphasised the importance of transforming research findings, technological innovations and practical skills into commercially viable products and services capable of addressing societal challenges and contributing to national economic growth. The Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and its institutions to ensure that innovations showcased during exhibitions are further developed, protected, produced on a larger scale and introduced into the market for practical application.

He further stressed that innovations should extend beyond exhibitions to generate tangible benefits for communities, create economic opportunities and contribute to sustainable national development. His message reinforced the exhibition's theme, highlighting the critical role of education, skills development, research and innovation in advancing Tanzania's socio-economic transformation and achieving the National Development Vision 2050.

TCU's participation in the exhibition reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital technology to improve service delivery, strengthen public awareness and enhance stakeholder engagement. The positive feedback received from visitors further underscored the importance of sustained investment in innovative solutions that respond effectively to the needs and expectations of service users. Beyond showcasing its technological achievements, the Commission used the exhibition to strengthen public understanding of its mandate and demonstrate its continued commitment to accessible, transparent and citizen-centred services.

As the exhibition concluded, TCU reaffirmed its determination to continuously improve its digital platforms and public awareness initiatives, ensuring that students, graduates, university institutions and the wider public have access to reliable, timely and efficient services. Through these initiatives, the Commission continues to strengthen public confidence in its services while contributing to the Government's broader agenda of promoting innovation, institutional accountability and sustainable national development.
